What are employers commonly looking for in a candidate when it comes to qualifications and personality ?

It always depends on the job, the company, the tasks you will be in charge for and so on. Abilities can be useful on the one hand, but can also be a hindrance on the other. E.g. a researcher will need other qualifications than a sales manager. Being an introvert is not a problem for a researcher. For a seller, this is a no-go. He would hardly succeed. Accuracy is very important in quality assurance but can prove to be a problem in management. A manager must not get bogged down in details.

But besides all, there are some personal skills that always are of interest: reliability, commitment, willingness to integrate into a team or a company. Think about  behaviors you appreciate and expect from others.
